    Part Time Rec Center Assistant - Job Description

    Broetje Family Trust is an association of three foundations collectively stewarding a family legacy of "bearing fruit that will last" through servant leadership, community building, and philanthropy. Jubilee oversees the community-building arm of this work, nurtures safe, resilient neighborhoods that increase the well-being and capacity of residents to serve the common good. Jubilee is people-centered and place-based. Community happens when people feel safe, known and loved, are connected to each other, and care for the place they live. Jubilee's current work centers in the Tierra Vida community in Pasco Washington.

    The Rec Center Assistant reports to the Community Relations Manager. This position is responsible for documenting facility participation, assisting with evening events, event set-up and take-down, and ensuring a safe and clean environment. The Rec Center Assistant is responsible for enforcing Tierra Vida Rec Center policies and procedures as well as ensuring attendees feel welcomed and engaged in Rec Center Activities. This is a part-time, hourly position at $17.00 per hour comprised of works hours of Tuesday-Friday 5:00-9:00 PM and Saturday 10:00am-2:00pm. Additional work hours on weekend and late evening shifts depending on Rec Center needs.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Ensure a safe environment while maintaining responsible operations of the Tierra Vida Rec Center facility.
    • Conduct regular rounds to all areas within the facility (Fitness center, gym, multipurpose rooms, lobby, rec center parking, basketball courts and restrooms) used for recreational purposes to ensure that activities are conducted safely and appropriately and to record participation numbers.
    • Document all activity reports, facility issues, participation concerns, injuries, and incidents in the daily report form
    • Open, close, and secure the facility at specified times and check for safety and maintenance concerns
    • Document any equipment or weight machine that isn't working properly and report
    • Assist and support other staff areas with the preparation and operation as needed and as time is available
    • Keep all Rec Center storage areas and rooms clean of spills, add paper towels, and toilet paper, etc
    • Prepare all activity sites with necessary materials for efficient, safe, and service-oriented events including set-up and take down of equipment (volleyball net, tables, chairs, sounds system, etc.) in support of facility services
    • Perform additional light custodial maintenance when full-time custodians are not available e.g., vacation - if time allows
    • Document the completion of all assigned tasks
    • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

    Administrative duties and responsibilities

    • Provide support to the Rec Center Coordinator on specific projects as needed and assigned
    • Serve as a role model to all Rec Center guest and participants
    • Attend and contribute to Community Engaging Team and the Broetje Family Trust meetings
    • Maintain a positive relationship with staff and co-workers
    • Maintain prompt hours and follow absence procedures

    Qualifications

    • Willingness and ability to work early mornings, evening, and weekends with appropriate notice
    • Energetic, creative, self-initiative, responsible and reliable
    • Able to sit for a long period of time
    • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
    • Experience in customer service, knowledge and operation of recreational equipment, and excellent communication skills to work through conflict situations with guests
    • Genuine interest in a variety of individuals and commitment to providing quality service to diverse populations
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must pass a full background check.
