    Education:

    Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    ITIL v3 or newer Foundation Certificate preferred.

    Six years' experience using ServiceNow or similar Software Asset Management (SAM) platform to manage and optimize software assets throughout their lifecycle.

    The IT Software Asset and Service Configuration Manager's purpose is to proactively manage and improve their practices at Washington University ensuring all centralized and distributed IT software assets and their configurations are known, recorded, and accessible. This pivotal role focuses on managing, optimizing, and ensuring compliance of our software assets throughout their lifecycle. This role will be responsible for developing and enforcing software asset management processes and standards, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, and managing software-related risks. Working closely with IT, procurement, and finance teams, this role will play a key role in aligning software asset management strategies with business objectives. This position requires a balance of technical knowledge, financial savvy, and strong negotiation skills. Experience with ServiceNow is highly desirable. This role will contribute significantly to the operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our IT resources. Significant stakeholder engagement both within, and outside of IT, will be required.

    Defines, proposes and implements service asset, and configuration management policies, standards, processes and procedures.

    Ensures the methods and processes are approved and communicated to staff before being implemented.

    Plans population of configuration and asset management information into the configuration management system.

    Accountable for effectively managing the day-to-day operations of Asset and Configuration capabilities, controls, and reports.

    Leads and oversees the planning, design and implementation of integrations and processes for gathering, populating, and maintaining CMDB data.

    Serves as champion and subject matter expert for all processes and activities that support and influence Asset, Configuration, and Knowledge functions, with a focus on organizational maturity and understanding of how to receive appropriate value from a CMDB.

    Oversees the establishment and maintenance of process improvement plans and ensures processes, procedures and work instruction documentation is up to date. Defines, monitors and reports configuration data compliance metrics; leads and supports the development and communication of compliance audits via compliance reports and health dashboards.

    Supervises one or more IT Service Management Analysts, project team members or contractors.

    Assigns and prioritizes team tasks.

    Provides coaching, mentoring and performance feedback.

    Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills:

    Experience working in higher education and IT.

    Experience with ServiceNow platform.

    Experience with managing a CMDB.

    Experience working with data and data modeling for the purposes of reporting. Practitioner, and other additional ITIL certifications. eam
