    Rochester Optical Vision Care Center is a prescription eyeglass retailer that was established in Rochester, New York in 1932.

    In addition to serving retail clients, we have a 70-year history as a prescription eyeglass supplier to the eye care industry - with our very own Rochester-made products In addition to our years of dedication to eye care professionals across the nation, Rochester Optical is proud to have served our country for decades by supplying the military with specialized tactical eyewear.

    Rochester Optical is currently recruiting for an experienced (minimum 1 year) full-time licensed optician and a part-time licensed optician.


    Position Summary:

    The Licensed Optician will be responsible for successfully performing customer service, sales, and operational tasks, as well as positively contributing to a professional optometry office that delivers excellent patient and customer care.

    The position will work a 5-day work week with no nights and occasional Saturdays till 1:00 pm.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Deliver exceptional service throughout customers' shopping and purchasing experience
    • Ensure accuracy in taking and recording measurements and adjusting and fitting eyewear
    • Expertly guide customers in selecting frames and lenses that are best suited for their personal style, lifestyle, prescription and price needs
    • Ensure finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements
    • Maintain presentation standards both on the sales floor and back office
    • Process orders in Point of Sale (POS) Software and generate reports
    • Stay current on product knowledge and fashion trends in order to enhance sales and service

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of current optical theory and practices
    • Exceptional retail sales and service skills, including the ability to build a client following
    • Excellent organization, timemanagement, solutionfinding, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Comfort using a computer and learning new software
    • Ability to project a professional image

    Education & Experience:

    • High School diploma or its equivalent
    • New York State License in ophthalmic dispensing
    • Three or more years' experience; optical retail environment experience preferred
    Compensation is $28.00 to $35.00 an hour and commensurate with experience.
