    Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR)


    POSITION SUMMARY:


    The District's Special Education program provides a continuum of services to students with disabilities at their neighborhood school or school of choice.

    The Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) provides itinerant occupational therapy services in collaboration with teachers(both general and special educators)in order to support and maintain the student with disabilities in the least restrictive environment(LRE) and/or the general education classroom with access to the District's adopted core curriculum.

    The OTR is responsible for providing consultation to staff on specific cases, direct services to students within the general education classroom setting, or in a pull out setting as indicated on the IEP.

    The OTR will also supervise any Occupational Therapy Applicants (OTAs) who are not licensed and registered.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

    • Ensure collaboration with any other assessors in the interdisciplinary assessment of each student who is considered for placement in any special education program.
    • Ensure that interdisciplinary interaction occurs throughout the special education assessment process.
    • Ensure the use of person/family-centered planning and assessments.
    • Ensure parent/guardian input on assessment teams.
    • Ensure the use of alternative assessment procedures, when appropriate.
    • Ensure that assessments are completed within required timelines.
    • Ensure that valid procedures are used when conducting assessments of behavioral/emotional needs.
    • Provide ongoing assessment for referred and assigned students.
    • Supervise and mentor OTAs who provide services under the supervision of an OTR.
    • Participate as a member of the SST, IEP and/or 504 teams.
    • Provide educational and support services as outlined in the SST, IEP, and/or 504 plans.
    • Provide occupational services as outlined in the SST, IEP and/or 504 plans.
    • Monitor, document, and share with parents and staff (each regular reporting period) students' progress for the goals and benchmarks/objectives in IEP and and/or 504 goals plans.
    • Provide and maintain student and program data as requested by the District.
    • Participate in general education and Special Education activities and in-services.
    • Ensure that timelines for Reevaluations and Annual Reviews are maintained.
    • Report enrollment, A.D.A., and other Special Education statistical information to the Director and/or the Attendance Technician,
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal and/or the Special Education Director.

    SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION
    The OTRs and OTAs are supervised and evaluated by the Special Education Director.

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate various equipment;
    • Seeing to read a variety of materials;
    • Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations;
    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time;
    • Walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending over, grasping, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling and moving, lifting and/or carrying 0-50 pounds to waist height.

    HAZARDS:

    • Potential for contact with bodily fluids, blood-borne pathogens, and communicable diseases;
    • Exposure to anti-social behavior;
    • Driving a vehicle during adverse weather conditions.

    TECHNOLOGY STANDARD
    Ravenswood City School District requires employees to have technology skills. E-mail, standard software usage and data entry may be employment requirements. Advanced technical skills may be obtained through on-job training as needed.
