    Department Summary
    The Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon is seeking an innovative instructor to join a growing nationally-recognized program that provides flexible curriculum and an engaging learning environment for over 1,000 undergraduate majors who aspire to be professionals in health science fields such as medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, education, and research.

    Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment of 24,000. The Eugene metro area population (250,000) is in a region noted for its high quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are approximately a one-hour drive from the Pacific Coast and the Cascade Mountains. The University is an AAU research institution.

    Position Summary
    The Career Instructor will engage in departmental and university service, work effectively with faculty, staff, and students with diverse backgrounds, participate in student advising, and to be a leader in evidence-based pedagogy for the Department of Human Physiology. Specific teaching needs include undergraduate instruction in upper-level courses in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Motor Control, Biomechanics. The Career Instructor will also teach lower-level courses in Research Methods, Medical Terminology, as well as instruction and development of physiology-based courses for General Science credits ).

    While this is not a tenure track position, it is expected to be an ongoing position at the rank of instructor or senior instructor I, depending on experience.

    Minimum Requirements
    Instructor rank:

    • Master's Degree in Human Physiology or a related field.

    • Two years experience teaching at the college level

    Senior Instructor rank:

    • Master's Degree in Human Physiology or a related field.

    • Eight years experience teaching at the college level,

    Professional Competencies

    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning strategies at the university level.

    • Remain active with developments in teaching pedagogy.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • PhD in Human Physiology, or a related field.

    • Background in systems physiology including nerve, muscle, cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic and/or exercise physiology.

    • Senior Instructor Level – Significant experience engaging in professional development around the scholarship of teaching and learning
