    Description

    Role:
    Assists physicians during endoscopic procedures, assists nurses with patient care activities. Properly handles, cares for, and sterilizes/disinfects/processes all surgical equipment and accessories. Assists in inventory management, maintains sterile/aseptic environment, schedules appointments and procedures for patients, prepares medical charts as needed.


    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Understands the different surgical procedures performed by the facility. Implements set up of the correct surgical procedure prior to each surgical intervention. Arranges for patient testing and admissions.
    • Correctly scrubs/assists the physician and surgical team. Observe, records, and reports patient's condition during treatment.
    • Properly handles, cares for, and sterilizes/disinfects/processes all surgical equipment and accessories used during surgical procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, manufacture recommendations, and the facility's infection control plan.
    • Follows all policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Surgery Center and Hutchinson Clinic.
    • Performs all Endoscopy Scheduler duties and Reception duties.
    • Maintains sterile/aseptic environment per departmental policies and procedures and the facility's infection control plan.
    • Recognizes the ASC conditions for coverage and participates in all related activities.
    • Stocks and orders supplies to as needed to assure appropriate inventory PAR levels are maintained in coordination with budget goals.

    Performance Measures:

    • Performs all Endoscopy Tech duties and expectations.
    • Prepare and ensure high level disinfection of endoscopes and accessories.
    • Observes all policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Surgery Center and Hutchinson Clinic.
    • Maintains and stocks supplies as needed in coordination with budget goals.
    • Maintains a sterile/aseptic environment.
    • Recognizes the ASC conditions for coverage and participates in all related activities.
    • Performs all Endoscopy Scheduler duties.
    Qualifications


    Knowledge & Skills:

    • Experience: Previous medical related experience is preferred.
    • Education: Equivalent to a high school education.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
    • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
    • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing 100 lbs.
    • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
    • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
    • Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
