    Overview

    Our largest local industrial distribution client is looking to add a Release Train Engineer to their Project Management Office. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for an Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE will be responsible for facilitating the flow of value through the ART, including proactively facilitating delivery and the major event and processes. This person will communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive continuous improvement within the ART. Besides enhancing visibility into execution, the Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as a catalyst for driving process enhancements and questioning current practices. They actively assist Agile teams in achieving self-organization and self-management. The RTE frequently influences and contributes their Agile expertise and hands-on involvement in delivery to other parts of the organization.

    Required Skills

    • Strong facilitation, communication (written and spoken), and negotiation skills.
    • Excellent listener and mentor with outstanding interpersonal conflict-resolution skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and lean thinking.
    • Articulate, persuasive, and comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization.
    • Strong experience utilizing an Agile framework (e.g. Scrum, Extreme Programming, Kanban, SAFe) in software development, 2+ years as an Agile practitioner, or 2+ years as a scrum master, or 3+ years as a program manager.
    • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience.
    • Experience with processes and tools supporting Agile methodologies.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of industry-related professional experience and education.

    Preferred

    • Experience in stakeholder relationship and team building.
    • Expertise in Scrum including the values and principles, and how they are applied in enterprise environments.
    • Familiarity with modern software engineering techniques such as Continuous Integration, build, deliver, test-driven development and other automated acceptance testing techniques.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate the flow of value through the ART via releases, Agile/SAFe processes, and execution.
    • Escalate and remove impediments and roadblocks the ART encounters.
    • Help drive continuous improvement within the ART.
    • Coach the Agile Release Train and people interactive with the ART.
