    Position Summary:

    Provides case management and crisis intervention to victims of domestic violence; provides constructive intervention activities that reinforce healthy coping skills; develops safety and service plans to address crisis needs and planning for long term stability.

    Provide survivor-centered advocacy and support survivors in their efforts to safely retain their housing and gain stability.

    Assists survivors and advocate on their behalf to overcome common barriers to stability such as negative rental history, unemployment, and lack of resources.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Schedules in-person intakes and assessments to assist and guide clients in determining their needs and provide resource options for clients to meet their needs.

    Work with clients to develop and implement attainable service plans and regularly monitor service plans goals.

    Advocate for the needs of clients and families with various entities including, but not limited to Department of Family & Protective Services, law enforcement agencies, judicial court systems, housing authorities and healthcare systems.

    Provides crisis intervention services as needed.
    Provide court accompaniment and support for clients as needed.
    Facilitates psychoeducation, parenting, and life skills groups for victims of domestic violence.
    Facilitates clients financial empowerment, including providing guidance on budgeting, managing bills, planning for savings, debt reduction and credit rehabilitation.
    Provides on-going case management sessions and housing related assistance to victims of domestic violence for assigned caseload.
    Maintains up to date information and knowledge of the available community resources.

    Maintains accurate and confidential records on each client for assigned case load in the Clients First database and other necessary locations, (progress notes, reports, and other required forms).Represents The Family Place and participates in community education as requested.

    Participates in agency-related domestic violence related training programs, housing seminars and workshops to maintain professional knowledge.
    Meets regularly with supervisor as arranged. Provides reports and/or accurate statistical information in a timely manner.
    Routinely maintains direct client work utilization performance of 50%.


    Other Duties:
    Works as a member of a team to ensure appropriate case management for assigned case load.
    Attends agency domestic violence related trainings.
    Maintains work schedule as required by program needs with adequate flexibility.
    Attends agency staff meetings.
    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    QualificationsRequirements:
    Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Related Human Services field. Masters preferred. One to two years of experience in crisis intervention and/or domestic violence issues preferred. Prior experience with supportive housing placements preferred. Reliable transportation required for community meetings. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.


    Licenses and Certifications:
    Valid and clear Texas Drivers License

    Work must be performed in the agency office due to client confidentialityKnowledge and Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse, cultural diversity, and diverse socioeconomic levels of clientsKnowledge of MS Office, including Word and OutlookAbility to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solutions for clientsAbility to listen to clients with empathy and to establish trust and safetyAbility to maintain confidentiality.

    Ability to relate with clients through understanding, respect, and skilled communication.
    Ability to follow all safety and precautionary rules and measures.
    Ability to perform work efficiently and effectively under stressful situations.
    Ability to prioritize and self-motivate to accomplish job goals.


    Mental and Physical Abilities:
    Ability to perform physical task such as stooping, reaching, bending, climbing to interact with clients including children with the ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs

    Working Conditions:
    Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment. Ability to drive personal vehicle.
