    Summary Description

    Responsible for working with the Engineering team in all phases of the design and programming of building automation systems.

    Duties and Responsibilities


    Essential Functions:


    Performs design and project management tasks or programming and project management tasks on at least two jobs, preferably $150,000 or larger.

    Produces revenue with total volume of annual recognized costs of $425,000.

    Independently performs all engineering tasks on at least 8 projects (preferably of $50,000 to $100,000) including:


    project management tasks; design; sequence of operations; controller software; front end hardware set up; front-end software installation, set up and testing; system functional testing; customer training; and job commissioning.


    Works with Project Manager to perform job reconciliation of at least four projects that are at least $50,000 or larger.

    Meets all project deadlines and works within budget hours.

    Installs/edits customer graphics, schedules, alarms, reports and front-end related programs for building automation systems.

    Assembles, tests, installs and backs up front end computer for customer as required.

    Performs employee and customer training as required.

    Completes all system software prior to the beginning of system checkout.

    Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with all customers.

    Ensures that response time on projects meets established Tri-M turnaround times.

    Assists with job estimates/takeoffs as required.

    Job Qualifications

    Skills/Educational Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.

    Minimum total of 4 years' experience as Project Engineer 1 or equivalent engineering experience in building automation systems.

    Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office:
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

    Intermediate knowledge of BAS programming.

    Intermediate knowledge of drafting software (preferably AutoCAD or Visio).

    Basic programming experience.

    Excellent organizational skills with good attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

    Excellent human relations and communication skills.

    Ability to think and make decisions independently within the guidelines provided.

    Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.


    Physical Requirements:
    Working a minimum of 40 hours/week.

    Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.

    Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.

    Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.

    Vision adequate for computer use and reading.

    Hearing adequate for phone use.


    Standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, and walking as needed to perform site surveys to collect data for project design.

    Balance adequate for climbing ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.

    Environmental factors include working in:


    temperature extremes of 0 F to 100 F up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces.

    Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.

    Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves and hearing protection.
