Job summary
Experienced engineer with background in autonomous systems aviation and robotics who wants to lead Merlin's direction when it comes to perception and situational awareness.You understand both the commercial and military aviation domains enjoy pushing the boundaries on crewed and uncrewed technology to make aviation safer and be a force multiplier for our military. You are comfortable working across multiple sensing modalities know how to turn raw data into structured representations that enable intelligent behavior can define how autonomous aircraft understand their environment.
Responsibilities include driving technical direction delivering capabilities supporting perception and situational awareness for airborne autonomy systems defining research experiments development projects to deliver situational awareness using diverse sensors fusion algorithms world model representations identifying gaps staffing needs developing delivering perception world modeling situational awareness capabilities ensuring plans align short term R&D objectives long term objectives Merlin technology roadmap leading architecture design performing architecture trade-off analysis accounting short term goals decision making stepping software development role as needed supporting simulation integration flight test activities validate real-world performance collaborating develop novel systems solve toughest problems in aviation autonomy.
