- Prep and serve meals for campers and staff
- Create a well-balanced menu that is ready and prepared 2 weeks in advance
- Accommodate dietary needs with similar menu substitutions
- Order food using established purchase order systems
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining hall
- Follow industry standards for food prep, storage, and handling
- Direct kitchen assistants
- Ensure eating areas are cleaned in-between meals
- Work with counselors using the 'Kitchen Request' system
- Ensure dishes are cleaned and put away properly between meals
- Maintain a high level of professionalism between themselves and other staff members
- Other duties as assigned

- Collaboration - Creates sustainable relationships within the Y and with other organizations in service to the community
- Functional Expertise - Executes superior technical skills for the roll

- Must be at least 21 Years old and a high-school graduate
- Must have or be willing to obtain ServSafe Certification
- Must be able to work well with others
- Have experience cooking in a similar setting
- Must be flexible and organized
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate
- Ability to life, carry, push, and pull trays of food
- Exposure to heat for extended periods of time from ovens, stoves, hot water, dishwasher, & other kitchen appliances.
- Works with sharp utensils such as knives and other hazardous kitchen tools
- Noise level is typically moderate but can at times be loud

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Camp Cook is responsible for prepping a well-rounded menu for each weekend of camp, ensuring the kitchen and dining hall is clean and organized, communicating with the Program Director on menus and shopping lists, prepping and serving meals, directing kitchen assistants, planning and prepping meals for those with dietary restrictions, and other duties as required.
