    Job Description:

    Position Overview:

    As a Special Education Learning Specialist at Humanex Academy, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of students with a variety of academic & social/emotional needs. You will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to create and implement individualized learning plans that address students' unique learning challenges. Humanex is a small school community of 40-50 learners and this position will involve engaging with students directly on a regular and consistent basis.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Individualized Learning Plan Development: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administration to develop comprehensive learning plans tailored to each student's needs, strengths, and goals.
    2. Private School Team & District Liaison: Serve as the point person for the Englewood Private Schools Team to transfer IEPs to ISPs (Individualized Service Plans), coordinate meetings, and act as the Humanex representative and student advocate. Also serve as the point person for district placements to implement district IEPs and coordinate meetings and annual updates from teachers.
    3. Instructional Support: Provide direct instruction and support to students in various academic subjects, utilizing evidence-based instructional strategies and accommodations.
    4. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate students' academic progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
    5. Behavioral Support: Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social-emotional development.
    6. In House Substitute: Help cover classes as needed for teacher absences.
    7. Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with general education teachers to promote inclusive practices and ensure the successful integration of accommodations and modifications in the classroom.
    8. Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills. Benefits:

      Qualifications:

      1. Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
      2. Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
      3. Expertise in areas of learning disabilities such as reading intervention, math intervention, etc.
      4. Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and emotional/behavioral disorders.
      5. Understanding of various types of academic, cognitive, and IQ testing and ability to take that data and apply it to learning plans.
      6. Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
      7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
