The Development Manager is a proven fundraiser responsible for developing strategies to secure individual, foundation and corporate gifts for Apna Ghar.
Apna Ghar is in growth mode and the Development Manager plays a critical role in ensuring successful fundraising for organizational growth and development.
Competence and results for this position will be measured against organizational goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).The Director of Development reports to Apna Ghar's Director of Development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a key fundraiser for growing, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio for private giving
Research and identify new prospects, and maintain accurate tracking of new and existing partnerships
Lead preparation of development-related communication including campaigns, correspondence, proposals, spreadsheets, reports and briefing memos among other communications
Develop and participate in strategic donor engagement opportunities, including but not limited to events for select donors/prospects in the portfolio, newsletter features, and larger donor recognition events
Effectively partner and coordinate with external stakeholders, agency leadership, development staff, and staff across the agency
Invoke the position and development department with an entrepreneurial spirit and outlook to ensure growth
Develop and implement cold calling, sales and promotion focused strategies as needed
Develop and update major gifts and recurring donor programs for the agency
Create new opportunities to promote the agency and to fundraise
Other responsibilities as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Higher education in gender studies, social work, social sciences, business administration, nonprofit management or equivalent mix of education and experience
Experience:
Five years or more of proven experience leading development or similarly relevant role
Strong skills in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating a wide variety of activities
Experience developing policies and plans, analyzing data, making sound recommendations and adopting effective courses of action
Deep understanding of business functions such as Finance, Budgeting, Programs and Grants Management
Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
Five or more years of direct experience with survivors of gender-based violence or other vulnerable populations
Demonstrated commitment to social change
Experience working with diverse populations in culturally competent settings
Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
Excellent verbal and written communications skills; and ability to participate in public events and group settings
Excellent conflict management and resolution skills
Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent collaboration, teamwork and teambuilding skills
Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, peers, direct reports, and external stakeholders
Licenses/Certification:
40-Hour Domestic Violence Training required within 6 months of employment. This can be obtained through Apna Ghar at no cost
Computer and software knowledge:
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel. Powerpoint)
Strong skills in database and systems management
Familiarity with design software as well as survey tools
WORK ENVIRONMENT
:

This position operates primarily in an office environment but work offsite is required for meetings, workshops, advocacy events etc.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 40 poundsTravel between the main office and other locations may be required.
Occasional evening, night and weekend hours are required
