Position Summary
The Geologist is responsible for the evaluation of geoscience technical data for prospect generation, play trend delineation, ranking, and marketing efforts on our existing fee mineral portfolio.
In This Role, You Will
- Work with a small senior technical team and contractors to perform geologic analyses to generate prospects and delineate play trends on BSM fee mineral assets
- Monitor and analyze operations activity on existing assets to improve understanding of our mineral position.
- Assist Information Governance (IG) with management of our geological and geophysical library
- Promote leasing activity on BSM assets using industry contacts, presentation and marketing materials, and networking
- Work closely with the engineering, geophysical and land personnel in the evaluation and marketing of prospect ideas
- Design and implement a Prospect Summary Documents system for opportunities evaluated to be maintained in a Prospect Library
What We Require
- M.S. Geology/Geophysics or related discipline and five (5) – ten (10) years of geological/geophysical experience required in oil and gas
- Experience in the Gulf Coast, specifically East Texas for both conventional and unconventional assets
- Proficiency using The Kingdom Software and/or Geographix is required
- Ability to create marketing presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint using geologic interpretations to tell a technical story
- Experience working with multiple disciplines to integrate into one cohesive interpretation and presentation such as geophysics, engineering, and petrophysics
- Experience with log analysis, correlation, and geologic mapping
- Ability to build and defend geologic models using stratigraphic correlations, structure mapping, formation evaluation mapping, petrophysical analysis, and information from outside consultants
- Solid interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build relationships in a small team environment as well as with external parties
- Ability to add value to the organization, think ahead and plan over a long-term time frame
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and comply with stated deadlines
- Ability to manage and load geophysical data such as field tapes, seg-y files, gathers, etc. would be valued
