**Job Description**

**AECOM** is actively seeking a creative and highly talented **Senior Transportation Hydraulics Engineer** based in **Raleigh, North Carolina** . This position will serve as a technical lead and support role on drainage and hydraulic transportation projects and designs.

**Typical duties and responsibilities:**

+ Preparing and reviewing working drawings, plans, cost estimates, studies, reports and other work products

+ Analysis and design of stormwater drainage system, hydraulic structures, and highway drainage systems

+ Perform independent tasks and reviewing technical work of others.

+ Mentor, lead, and training junior level staff.

+ Drafting technical reports and memoranda.

+ Face to face interaction with clients.

+ Will manage staff on complex projects and coordinate with public agencies.

+ Independently manage technical tasks and staff.

+ Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

+ Participate in developing services for planning, design, engineering, procurement and contracting, permitting and construction services.

+ Participate in developing practices for public agencies to maintain compliance with stormwater regulations.

**Qualifications**

**Minimum Requirements:**

+ BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field plus four (6) years of demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education.

+ Professional engineering license in the State of North Carolina or able to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Five (5) years of engineering experience including design of pipe systems, channels, and stormwater design.

+ Good organizational, leadership, communications, influencing, and negotiation skills.

+ Developing stormwater management retrofit design plans (site and structural).

+ Low Impact Development (LID) and Environmental Site Design (ESD) assessment and design, including within rights-of-way.

+ Experience in detention basin modeling.

+ Understanding of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in construction and post-construction settings, hydrology, fluvial processes, and applicable rules and regulations.

+ Experience in erosion and sedimentation control design.

+ Experience in developing project plans and specifications.

+ Preparing specifications and cost estimates Construction bid support.

+ Experience and familiarity with the following programs: HEC-RAS 1-D, HydroCAD, AutoCAD, Microstation (V8i/ORD), Geopak Drainage, HY-8, SRH-2D, PCSWMM.

+ Strong analytical and computation skills.

+ Knowledge of civil engineering principles.

+ Project management experience with public / private clients.
