    Description


    Receive various assignments, such as material take-offs, drawing checks, RFI creations, delivery lists, materials ordering, quality checks, sub initial creations, from project managers.

    Develop detailed design and submittal drawings and related specifications for fabrication and mechanical equipment. Assist project managers on their assigned projects. (Manage smaller projects, typical project value $0 - $200,000.)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design requirementssuch as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.

    Aid project managers in estimating and managing projects, pricing materials, and making cut lists to obtain prices on materials and outside labor.

    Aid project managers on-site in obtaining information and sketching projects. Prepare project delivery lists as required. Build and maintain project schedules, SOV, and other reports.
    Sketch rough layouts of machines and compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, and locations of holes. Assist with field measuring.
    Act as project manager on small projects and accounts.

    Interact with customers in defining job specifications and expectations, estimating projects, pricing, completing work orders, responsible for completion, quality, and delivery of projects and services in-house and on customer sites when necessary as well as track project costs and performance .

    Able to rely on knowledge of practices, procedures, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish project drawings and goals.
    Able to work independently to design, create, and review drawings ensuring adherence to established specifications and standards.
    Use computer-assisted drafting equipment and software (CAD) to develop designs.
    Occasionally work nights/weekends/overnight and/or out of town based upon customer project needs. Minimum 43-hour average week required.
    Complete job summary report for all work greater than $20k. Conduct postmortems for all projects over $200k.
    Order and verify receipt of parts requested by project managers and engineers.
    Contact and arrange outside services in preparing for, or in conjunction with, a project.
    Research old jobs and new products as needed to assist Project Managers.
    Make drawing copies when needed. Perform deliveries or pickups upon request.
    Schedule and run design, production, and installation coordination meetings based on established project thresholds.

    Be able to operate heavy and light equipment as requested or required, such as scissor lift, boom lift, and forklift.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent 2-year degree, certificate in computer–aided drafting (CAD), and one to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    TECHNICAL SKILLS
    Ability to efficiently operate vehicles utilizing a manual transmission. Ability to efficiently operate appropriate required software in a Windows-based environment and use computer-aided drafting software. Know and understand the principles of mechanical drawing.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, area, circumference, and volume. Able to apply the concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
