    Position Title:
    Speech-Language Pathologist


    Reports to:
    Principal and Assistant Superintendent


    FLSA:
    Exempt

    Summary of the position:

    To provide a program to meet the unique needs of each student with communication disabilities and implement hearing screening procedures as required by state regulations.


    Qualifications:

    Master's degree with a current teaching license from the State of Indiana with a major emphasis in speech pathology is required.

    Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred. Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

    Supervises:
    Any individual assigned by the building administrator or Superintendent (such as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant).


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Organize and implement a hearing screening program for students in grades 1, 4, 7, and 10 as required by state law.
    • Evaluate and identify those students who meet state guidelines as having communication and/or hearing disabilities.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate Individual Education Programs for identified speech/language students as part of the Case Conference Committee.
    • Conduct referrals and follow-ups for students with possible medical needs.
    • Provide consultation services to students, teachers, and other professionals.
    • Participate in all student meetings as necessary to provide information regarding general education intervention, diagnostic information, decisions regarding evaluations, and participation as a member of the multi-disciplinary evaluation team.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records and required paperwork associated with the delivery of services and assure that proper procedures are followed when transferring records or other information to other therapists, professionals, or parents.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development.
    • Assist in the ongoing planning, development, and evaluation of speech/language services.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
