    Overview:


    The Application Development Engineer role for Automotive is a multi-faceted customer / market facing position responsible for driving new business growth through an entrepreneurial mindset and rigorous SFDC Opportunity Build & Development process.


    Responsibilities:
    This role is based in Auburn Hills, MI.


    Responsibilities:

    A Principal Application Development Engineer is responsible to:

    Develop, drive, and deliver the growth plan for the Automotive business unit with targeted value chain partners in North America, specific to ADAS, AVSS, and other segments.

    Build pipeline by scouting, targeting, and identifying new growth opportunities at new and existing customers.

    Deliver growth by discovering external stakeholder pains, solving problems and commercializing product solutions to maximize value for both CE and the customer.

    Develop strong relationships with influencers and decision makers at key accounts (OEM, Tier 1, Molders) along the entire value chain.

    Possess in-depth industry/segment knowledge to anticipate trends and changes and bring internally Voice of the Customer and new product/technology development opportunities.

    Collaborate with global commercial teams (Sales, Marketing, and Technical Service) and T&I to ensure project/pipeline delivery; Support/participate in growth teams and share experience/knowledge internally.

    Understand the dynamics and trends of the key industry segments, and provide the inputs for business strategy.
    Drive specification wins and support Sales Team to grow and maintain annual budgets.


    Qualifications:

    Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree in Material Science, or Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Plastics or Equivalent) required.
    10+ years of industry experience in developing applications for high performance engineered polymers in Automotive. Previous roles could have been sales, marketing, technical service, R&D, or other relevant customer facing experiences
    Strong understanding of the material selection process working with OEMs and Tiers.
    Self-starter, entrepreneurial mindset, strong personal presence, and interpersonal skills .
    Technical background for materials selection, part design and applications.

    Willingness to travel, with the possibility of overnight stay(s) involved, however travel is expected to be mostly local Metro Detroit.

    A valid motor vehicle operators license - ability to drive distances between several locations on a daily / weekly basis
    Knowledge of and use of IT business systems including MS Business Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) and Salesforce.
