The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water,
mangaging wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution.
The Bureau of Water Supply (BWS) employs nearly 1000 people who are responsible for the management operation
and protection of New York City's upstate water supply system associated facilities aqueducts over 100 miles road,
55 bridges approximately 150000 acres watershed lands.
Within BWS we have diverse roles responsibilities each us contributes to the same mission reliably providing New York City with its most valuable natural resource Working in Drinking Water Operations Directorate as a chemistry intern they will participate in
water quality monitoring support functions within Kingston Lab Operations located in Kingston NY The main project objectives for the intern will be assist with variety laboratory analyses relating to water quality including lead copper turbidities specific conductance pH chlorophyll sample preparation UV254 sample reception cryptosporidium giardia sample preparation dishwashing autoclaving sample bottles bottle preparation water collection Candidates expected comply environmental health safety laws agency policies In addition summer intern develop final presentation display assignments been involved working DEP Interns Closing Ceremony.
