    Description

    Under general direction of the Resident Services Program Manager, with support from Parent Possible and the HIPPY Program Coordinator, the HIPPY Program Home Visitor implements the HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) program with families living in BHP housing communities. HIPPY is an evidenced-based program that works in-home with families supporting parents in their critical role as their child's first and most important teacher. Home visitors deliver services according to the HIPPY USA model, providing parents with support, instruction, motivation, inspiration, and guidance for child education in the home. The HIPPY Home Visitor implements HIPPY program, conducts home visits, and supports families with referrals and community connections. The coordinator may also support other complementary programs as assigned.   

    This is a part-time position.

    HIRING RANGE AND BENEFITS: 

    Hiring Range: $22 - $25/hour DOQ

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Ability to read, write and speak fluently in both English and Spanish. Bachelor's degree/ associates degree or two or more years' experience in education, service coordination, program development and/or human services or equivalent. Knowledge of community resources. Knowledge of and/or experience in working with culturally diverse individuals and groups. Sensitivity to people who have special needs, such as the culturally diverse, disabled, elderly, or chronically mentally ill.  Strong computer skills in Word, Outlook, and Excel. Strong understanding of virtual workspace etiquette. Ability to work independently and to assume responsibility for completion of complex workload without close supervision. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.  Knowledge of and use of good customer service skills. Valid Colorado driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record. Acceptable background information, including criminal history.   

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

    Previous experience in federally subsidized housing or human service programs. Experience in building and maintaining relationships with local public and private providers of community and supportive services.  Experience with case management or program management software. Knowledge of community building principles and processes.   

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    • Recruit children/families. 
      • Work with families to fully engage in HIPPY. 
        • Meet and roleplay the HIPPY curriculum activities with assigned families each week.    
          • Participate in the planning and implementation of group meetings, including role playing the curriculum and the provision of an enrichment activity.   
            • Participate in service training and other staff development activities.  
              • Collaborate with the coordinator to support all families to succeed in the program. 
                • Keep the HIPPY coordinator updated of child/family progress and familial issues/concerns in a timely fashion. 
                  • Complete and submit all required forms and other documentation as required. 
                    • Participate in all sponsored HIPPY activities such as field trips, graduations, awards ceremonies, etc.  
                      • Maintain accurate and efficient record-keeping, data collection, and report systems.  
                        • Keep a current, updated list of community resources; make referrals for families, as needed. 
                          • Collaborate with community organizations serving families with young children to increase communication, reduce collaboration, and provide coordinated services to families.  
                            • Represent HIPPY within the community.  
                              • Other duties as assigned.  
                                • Participate in BHP team meetings.  
                                  • Perform related duties as required by management to meet the needs of BHP.  
                                    • Take proper safety precautions, anticipate. unsafe circumstances, and act. accordingly, to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment.  Use. all required safety equipment.

                                    WORKING CONDITIONS: 

                                    Physical Demands: This position works at housing sites and occasionally in an office setting. At housing sites there may be an occasional need to lift up to 20 pounds and to work in inclement weather. This position may involve some travel between the BHP central office and housing sites. In the office it is primarily sedentary physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment; vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and residents.  

                                    Work Environment: At housing sites, throughout the city of Boulder, you may on occasion encounter fumes and/or loud noise. Works in a clean, comfortable environment in the office.   

                                    Equipment Used: Frequently uses standard office equipment including personal computers, calculators, printers, fax and copy machines. 

                                    MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED IN WORK INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:  

                                    Personal vehicle, personal computer, telephone, photocopy machine, facsimile machine, and calculator.
