The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is recruiting Registered Nurses to fill three (3) Nursing Shift Coordinator vacancies at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center located in Martinez, CA.
Under direction, incumbents coordinate and supervise hospital nursing activities on an assigned shift in the absence of administrative personnel and ensure nursing staff levels are adequate to meet patient census. One of the primary duties includes scheduling relief nursing coverage for all units and for all shifts. The appointee will also act as a clinical resource person and represent nursing administration in the absence of the Nursing Program Managers; implement policies and procedures and interpret them to staff, patients and visitors; make recommendations to improve procedures; make rounds to oversee nursing care; and arrange for call-ins of medical and ancillary staff as necessary.

Typical Tasks
License and Certification Required: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment: a current, valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing; AND a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or CPR certification issued by the American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider); AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of full time, or its equivalent, experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, one (1) year of which was in the capacity of a Charge Nurse or Head Nurse or other supervisory/leadership role.
Substitution: Two (2) additional years of experience as a Charge Nurse or Head Nurse may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation/fingerprint and/or physical examination may be required prior to the start of employment.

Selection Process
