    Job Description: As a 1:1 School Nurse specializing in tracheostomy care, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of a student with a tracheostomy during school hours. This role requires close collaboration with the student's medical team, educators, and parents/guardians to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan that supports the student's academic and medical needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Provide continuous monitoring and care for the student's tracheostomy, including suctioning, dressing changes, and maintenance of equipment.
    2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the student's healthcare provider.
    3. Monitor vital signs and assess the student's overall health status throughout the school day.
    4. Develop and implement emergency protocols and response plans in coordination with the school's emergency management team.
    5. Communicate effectively with the student, parents/guardians, teachers, and other school staff regarding the student's health and care plan.
    6. Provide education and training to school staff members on tracheostomy care, emergency procedures, and other relevant topics.
    7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all medical interventions, incidents, and communications related to the student's care.

    Qualifications:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
    • Experience working with pediatric patients, particularly those with complex medical needs such as tracheostomies
    • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
    • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
    • Commitment to upholding patient confidentiality and privacy standards
