- Provide continuous monitoring and care for the student's tracheostomy, including suctioning, dressing changes, and maintenance of equipment.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the student's healthcare provider.
- Monitor vital signs and assess the student's overall health status throughout the school day.
- Develop and implement emergency protocols and response plans in coordination with the school's emergency management team.
- Communicate effectively with the student, parents/guardians, teachers, and other school staff regarding the student's health and care plan.
- Provide education and training to school staff members on tracheostomy care, emergency procedures, and other relevant topics.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all medical interventions, incidents, and communications related to the student's care.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
- Experience working with pediatric patients, particularly those with complex medical needs such as tracheostomies
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
