    Purpose & Job Related Requirements

    Reports to: Transit Marketing Coordinator
    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
    Classification: Non-merit; services at the discretion of the department director.
    Pay Grade: $15.60 per hour. Upon request, we will work to accommodate requirements for school internship program credit.
    Safety Sensitive: No

    Time Commitment: Approximately 15-20 hours weekly during Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Days and times are flexible.

    Purpose of the Job

    Duties will vary but include assisting the Transit Marketing Coordinator with a variety of activities related to the marketing and promotion of Athens-Clarke County Transit, enhancing public education, awareness and perception of the transit system. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to conducting community outreach and educational events, monitoring and creating content for social media outlets, collateral and advertising design and creation, public Information liaison, customer service, and quality control of all public facing information.

    When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by the ACCGov safe driving policy.

    Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

    High school degree or equivalent.
    Valid driver's license required

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferably currently enrolled in programs that lend themselves to government, public interest, marketing, communications, public information, media studies, or a related field.

    • Fluent in Spanish and English
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite

    The person hired for the program is considered an employee of the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and will undergo a background check prior to employment.

    Essential Duties, Responsibilities

    Tasks may include:
    Assist with advertising, public education, and outreach programs related to Athens-Clarke County Transit Department including:
    • Provide input on and assist with the creation of ACC Transit advertising through multi-media outlets including social media
    • Assist with departmental marketing, education and outreach programs
    • Assist with and conduct workshops and presentations for diverse community groups and organizations
    • Conduct tabling events
    • Assist with transit ridership research including conducting focus groups and implementing polls and surveys
    • Assist with the design and production of ACC Transit collateral, marketing and educational materials
      • Monitor and document media coverage and public outreach
    • Assist with dissemination of ACC Transit related news and events to the public
    • Promote and advocate for ACC Transit programs both internally and publicly
      • Assist with public outreach efforts through electronic outlets
    • Assist with maintenance of ACC Transit department website and public calendar
    • Utilize social media tools and platforms to provide timely updates and public information

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, adding machines, and other office equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Requires the ability to prepare the Budget Transfer Journal and various types of correspondence, using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence.
    INTELLIGENCE: Requires the ability to learn and understand basic principles and techniques; to acquire and be able to expound on knowledge of topics related to primary occupation; and to make independent judgments in the absence of management.
    VERBAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.
    NUMERICAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; and utilize and determine percentages.
    FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape, visually with office equipment (i.e., rulers and yardsticks).
    MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands, fingers, and eyes accurately in using computers and other office equipment. Requires the ability to use the keyboard, lift, bend, push, and pull objects or materials using body parts as the position necessitates.
    MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as computers, typewriters, copy machines and other office equipment. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
    COLOR DISCRIMINATION: May require the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
    INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate stress when confronted with an emergency.
