TRANSIT/SHUTTLE DRIVER Job Details Job Location Echo Tours & Charters -JAX - Jacksonville, FL Description This position operates a passenger/paratransit bus on deviated fixed route and/or demand response basis. Transports, assists, and escorts passengers to and/or from their designated locations. Maintains scheduled route and trips as directed by dispatcher, fare collection records, may operate wheelchair lift and tie downs. Ensures safety of bus and passengers by enforcing rules of conduct and operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Ensure that passengers are seated comfortably and adequately

Drive vehicle following a designated route to transport passengers from one place to another

Make frequent stops in keeping with a route schedule

Announce each designation that the vehicle is about to reach or has reached

Collect fares

Provide passengers with information about routes and schedules

Assist disabled passengers with on boarding and off boarding vehicle

Regulate heating and cooling systems of the vehicle to ensure a comfortable environment for passengers

Report any delays or accidents along the route and ensure that any adverse situation is handled in a professional manner

Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned and maintained at all times

Inspect vehicles to make sure they are safe for traveling on long routes

Advise passengers how to seat correctly on moving vehicles

Requirements

Driver must meet and maintain all D.O.T. qualifications which include but are not limited to drug test and D.O.T. physicals, vision and hearing.

Obtain and maintain a valid CDL with a Class B and with the proper endorsements which include passenger, and air brakes.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age

Minimum 5 years experience (preferred)

Must have clean MVR

Drivers must be able to read and speak and understand English
