    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are pleased to offer a job opportunity as the Head Nurse with DuPage County Kenneth Moy Care Center. The position supervises professional and sub-professional nursing personnel on a unit, and performs professional nursing services in the care and treatment of residents.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Plans, outlines and supervises the work of personnel on a unit, personally advising and assisting with the more difficult situations encountered
    • Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
    • Ensures orderliness and cleanliness of unit and proper care and maintenance of equipment
    • Makes resident rounds, and checks and carries out physician's orders
    • Administers and records all oral, intramuscular and other medications
    • Makes, records, and discusses resident's progress with doctors
    • Assists residents in preparation for examination, diagnosis and treatment by attending physician
    • Assists physicians in treatment as required
    • Supports attending physicians with patient rounds
    • Facilitates physician's instructions by demonstrating and explaining to residents the therapies, medication, treatments and procedures prescribed
    • Maintains appropriate resident documentation and files (e.g. charts, progress reports, etc.)
    • Demonstrates routine procedures to new nursing personnel
    • Maintains required unit and shift documentation and reports.
    • Plans nursing care plan for residents, including establishing and maintaining short and long term goals
    • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Responsible for managing a staff of professional and non-professional nursing staff. Provides direction, guidance and supervision to employees on assigned nursing unit. Also serves as nursing supervisor on weekends in rotation with other unit managers.

    REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Completion of coursework for a degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, and three years experience as a practicing nurse; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    This position requires possession of a current license in Illinois as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN).
