Patient Population

High-risk OB
Routine obstetric care
Ratios (AWHONN Based)

1:1–2 Labor patients

1:2–3 Antepartum

Required Skills & Competencies

Must be able to

circulate in OR

Competent in:
Normal newborn assessments
Routine infant care

Will float to

Postpartum
May float as house sitter (occasionally)
Drips & Clinical Skills

Titration Required

Common Drips:
Pitocin
Magnesium Sulfate
Pain medications

Support & Staffing

Charge RN on both shifts (takes assignment)
2 OBTs per shift
3 Residents + 1 Supervising MD in-house 24/7
CRNAs on unit 24/7
Tele in C-section recovery

EFM System:
Obix

Oxygen support:
Nasal Cannula

Scheduling

Day: 0630–1900

Night: 1830–0700

Weekend:
Every 3rd (may increase to every other)
Holidays: 1 Major + 1 Minor
2–3 shifts unit-specific orientation
Surgical scrubs provided
