- Assists Physicians by ensuring that proper follow-up has occurred with patient results.
- Develop and assist with the marketing of genetic programs.
- Review and develop policies and procedures for antenatal areas.
- Coordinate the activities associated with the Genetics meetings.
- Delevope systems to monitor patient care outcomes for quality assurance and department statistical needs.
- Coordinates the department's antenatal genetic counseling services by providing genetic counseling of patients prior to prenatal procedures (CVS, amniocentesis, PUBS).
- Genetic counseling of patients for general indications such as a positive family history of genetic diseases or birth defects, MSAFP screening, abnormal ultrasound findings, teratogens, etc.
- Providing contact with referring Physicians' offices.
- Follow-up with patients.
- Analysis and maintenance of statistics.
- Providing results to patients and referring physicians.
- Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Performs other duties as requested by senior management.
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or related field.
- Board eligible/board certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics.
- At least 2 years experience preferred.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing projects and other activities independently.
- Ability to effectively interact with faculty and other laboratory personnel, patients and referring physicians is essential.
