    Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Genetic Counselor for our OBGYN clinic at our Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) location.

    In this position, you will perform and coordinate counseling of genetic patients attending outpatient clinics in the Department of OB/GYN.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Assists Physicians by ensuring that proper follow-up has occurred with patient results.
    • Develop and assist with the marketing of genetic programs.
    • Review and develop policies and procedures for antenatal areas.
    • Coordinate the activities associated with the Genetics meetings.
    • Delevope systems to monitor patient care outcomes for quality assurance and department statistical needs.
    • Coordinates the department's antenatal genetic counseling services by providing genetic counseling of patients prior to prenatal procedures (CVS, amniocentesis, PUBS).
    • Genetic counseling of patients for general indications such as a positive family history of genetic diseases or birth defects, MSAFP screening, abnormal ultrasound findings, teratogens, etc.
    • Providing contact with referring Physicians' offices.
    • Follow-up with patients.
    • Analysis and maintenance of statistics.
    • Providing results to patients and referring physicians.
    • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
    • Performs other duties as requested by senior management.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or related field.
    • Board eligible/board certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics.
    • At least 2 years experience preferred.
    • Self-motivated and capable of managing projects and other activities independently.
    • Ability to effectively interact with faculty and other laboratory personnel, patients and referring physicians is essential.

    Must comply with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
