    Position Summary

    The College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) at theUniversity of New Mexico impacts the lives of New Mexicans daily and is lookingfor someone not only to tell those stories but also to become part of them. TheCOEHS invites applicants for a new staff position, Communications and MarketingManager. This position provides the opportunity not only to define a criticalcomponent of the College's administrative team but also to be a part of theinitiatives and programs that impact the lives of New Mexicans.

    The COEHS is seeking a dynamic individual who can help toamplify the work of the college by creating a clear and consistent singularthread through public relations, communications and marketing, and generaloutreach. The College is complex and large (more than 100 faculty and 1000students), with 5 academic departments representing a high number ofdisciplines, programs, research, as well as community engagement throughout NewMexico and beyond. This new position will provide the College with anidentified staff member to coordinate and synthesize its overall communicationand marketing needs to reach a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

    This Communications and Marketing Manager will providehigh-level management and coordination of the College's communications,strategic marketing, outreach, and representation in promotional materials,including in print as well as via social media. Duties will include, but not belimited to:
    • Work directly with the administrative and leadership team ofthe COEHS to develop, manage, and lead communication plans and coordinatedoutreach to internal and external constituents;
    • Lead, manage, and direct the development, implementation,and completion of strategic marketing and communication plans for the College;
    • Establish, implement, and monitor short- and long-termmarketing, communication, and outreach goals and objectives;
    • Manage, lead, and supervise employee team and positionsresponsible for COEHS public relations, communications and marketing, andgeneral outreach, to include work allocation, performance evaluation, coachingand training, and direct involvement in personnel actions;
    • Plan, coordinate, and conduct direct outreach, marketing,and communication efforts to internal and external COEHS stakeholders;
    • Oversee, compose, design, and edit promotional, recruitment,and marketing materials in various written, audio/visual, and social media.

    Conditions of Employment
    • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

    Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree.
    • Experience in coordinating, planning, and conducting mediaactivities, special events, and marketing campaigns.
    • Experience in current communications and marketing industryrequirements and in developing and implementing communication and marketingstrategies.
    • Experience in a higher education setting.
    • Project management experience.
