- Teach the equivalent of a full load (4 classes per semester) of undergraduate courses in English and Writing while making contributions to Winthrop's General Education Core
- In addition to providing traditional in-person instruction, the candidate will support the academic advising needs of undergraduate English majors in alignment with institutional needs
- Engage in academic responsibility and professional service for the department, college, and university as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the department chair
- A Master's degree or higher (that includes a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline) in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or a related field
- Evidence of teaching excellence and an unsurpassed commitment to student learning
- Demonstrated experience with the use of instructional technology and a commitment to working with students from diverse populations
- Collaborative engagement is required

The Winthrop Department of English boasts a vibrant and collegial team of 15 full-time faculty members, over 100 undergraduate majors and minors, and an English M.A. program. We invite applicants for a multi-year, non-tenure track Instructor of English position in support of the General Education Core and the English major. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated and experienced individual who can teach introductory and intermediate courses in writing, critical thinking, and literature. Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise or teaching experience in the areas of either professional/technical writing or creative writing. Major Responsibilities:
Work Environment: This position requires daily contact with students, faculty, and staff on campus.
Employment Conditions: A nine-month, full-time, non-tenure track appointment. Salary is competitive and dependent on academic qualifications.
