Job summary
The mental health worker assists patients with daily living activities and provides clinical intervention under the supervision of a registered nurse.Responsibilities
- Initiates interactions with patients through conversation and activities.
Orients patient to unit and hospital.
Patient hygiene assistance is provided by guiding them in personal hygiene housekeeping chores.
Assists during admissions discharges transfers escorts patients to appointments outside hospital area as required Administers CPR when necessary Responds medical psychiatric emergencies directing RN Assesses whereabouts safety directs observing replies group therapy activity groups responsible for reporting recording data Maintains observation flow sheets Participates nursing staff team meetings sharing observations information Receiving transmitting telephone messages concerning patient care absence unit receptionist Reporting observations interactions visitors Performs duties maintenance physical environment including but not limited to Hazards report RN taking remedial action wet areas mopping removing hazardous material supplies transporting laboratory specimens food trays drug baskets items distributing fresh linen soiled linen washing refrigerators stoves maintaining general sanitary conditions on unit ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification Minimum two years college pre-health science psychology courses preferred OR six years experience related work required Previous experience intervene psychiatric setting preferred Demonstrated CPR technique within orientation period Ability lift turn position restrain communicate effectively Additional Salary Detail The salary range hourly rate listed good faith determination potential base compensation may be offered successful applicant this position time job advertisement modified future When determining team member base salary rate several factors considered applicable e.g location specialty service line years relevant experience education credentials negotiated contracts budget internal equity
