    Job Summary/Basic Function
    About This Role:
    The Clinic Director of the Speech-Language Pathology Master's program plays a pivotal role in overseeing the clinical operations of the program — accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). This leadership position requires a combination of administrative, clinical, and educational skills to ensure the program's compliance with accreditation standards and the delivery of high-quality clinical services. The Clinical Director/Instructor position is a 9-month faculty position with a focus on administration of the clinical education of MS-SLP graduate students. Responsibilities for this position center on the clinical education of Master's of Speech-Language Pathology students, which includes: curriculum design; provision of classroom and clinical instruction of students; advising undergraduate and graduate students; and participating in Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences clinical activity and service activities. There are opportunities for contributing to research and scholarship as well as engaging in community and professional service associated with area of expertise. There are also opportunities for promotion to associate professor.
    What You'll Do – Position Responsibilities
    • Program Leadership
      • collaborate with the department chair and the SLP master's program director, to provide visionary leadership to the clinic, aligning goals with the overall objectives of the accredited program.
      • collaborate with program administration, faculty and staff to integrate clinical education seamlessly into the academic curriculum.
      • stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and changes in accreditation standards to ensure program relevance and compliance.
      • collaborate in alignment of strategic plans of the department and/or program with the university and college strategic plans.
    • Clinical Supervision and Training
      • oversee the clinical education of speech language pathology students by coordinating and supervising their clinical practicum experiences.
      • develop and implement training programs for clinical supervisors, ensuring they adhere to accreditation standards and promote a positive learning environment.
      • Develop innovative strategies and methods for clinical education.
      • Develop curriculum and policies related to clinical education.
      • Develop specialty clinics to provide experiential learning for students as a part of the degree program.
      • Potential for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
    • Accreditation Compliance
      • monitor and ensure compliance with CAA accreditation standards, guidelines, and procedures.
      • collaborate with faculty to prepare and submit accreditation reports, documenting program achievements, improvements, and compliance with accreditation criteria.
    • Clinical Service Management
      • manage the day-to-day operations of the speech language pathology clinic, ensuring the provision of high-quality education to students and services to clients.
      • oversees scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of clinical services to meet client needs and maintain a productive learning environment.
    • Student Support
      • provide support and guidance to students in the program, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
      • address student concerns and collaborate with faculty to facilitate student success in both academic and clinical settings.
      • collaborate with clinical supervisors in developing student remediation plans for clinical coursework deficiencies.
    • Community Engagement
      • foster relationships with external stakeholders including local health care providers, school districts, and community organizations.
      • collaborate with these stakeholders to enhance clinical opportunities for students and promote the programs visibility within the community.
    • Secondary Responsibilities
      • mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students' academic and professional development.
      • collaborate in clinical research with other faculty.
      • provide clinical services in the Speech and Language Clinic at Lamar University.

    Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
    • Master's degree or doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
    • Earned Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA.
    • Current state of Texas (TDLR) licensure to practice speech-language pathology.
    • Minimum of three years clinical practice experience.
    • Minimum of one year experience providing clinical supervision.
    • Prior experience in program administration.
    • Completion of a minimum of 2 hours of ASHA-approved professional development/ continuing education in clinical instruction/supervision.
    • Knowledge of CAA accreditation standards and procedures.
    • Knowledge of MS SLP licensure and supervision regulations.
    • Strong organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple constituencies including students, clients, caregivers, colleagues, staff, upper administration and community stakeholders.
