    JOB DESCRIPTION:
    • Position Title: PERSONAL ATTENDANT.
    • Responsible to: Program Coordinator.
    • Supervises: None.
    • Classification: Exempt.
    • Work Hours:
      • $18.00 awake hours, $17.00 per hour for overnight shifts.
      • Medical and Dental Benefits after 90 days of Employment.
      • Open shifts are Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 p, 4:00 until midnight and midnight until 8:00 am following day.
      • In San Rafael 4:00 to 10pm.
    • Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience (sufficient to meet state and federal minimum wage and benefit laws).

    Pathway to Choices is looking for a Personal Attendant (PA) that is compassionate and love working with and helping people. PAs should be able to work well on their own, and with minimal direction, but also be able to work as part of a team when required. They should have impeccable communication skills and know how to identify and resolve problems.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Attainment of at least 18 years of age, teamwork.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and decision making skills.
    • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills, including computer skills.
    • Interest and willingness to work with consumers to meet their needs and choices.
      • Ability and willingness to be flexible; Dependability.

      • Emotional control.
    • Valid California Driver License, adequate transportation including valid automobile insurance and current registration, and a clean DMV record and a reliable transportation.
    • Upon offer of employment provide evidence of good physical health. Good physical health is to be verified by a health screening and a test for tuberculosis, performed by or under the supervision of a physician not more than one year prior or seven days after employment.
    • Upon offer of employment, complete a Statement of Prior Criminal Conviction, obtain a California Criminal Clearance (Live-Scan Fingerprinting) or a Criminal Record Exemption, obtain and maintain required training (including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, and Pro-ACT).
    Preferred Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of the service system for adults with developmental disabilities in the State of California.
    • An understanding and commitment to the philosophy of normalization, inclusion, positive programming, and consumer driven services.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Enables client to stay in their homes by monitoring and recording client condition, providing support and personal services, and teaching families.
    • Monitors client condition by observing physical and mental condition, intake and output, and exercise.
    • Supports clients by providing housekeeping and laundry services, shopping for food and other household requirements, preparing and serving meals and snacks, and running errands.
    • Assists clients by providing personal services, such as, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
    • Helps clients care for themselves by teaching use of cane or walker, special utensils to eat, special techniques and equipment for personal hygiene.
    • Advises on nutrition, cleanliness, and housekeeping.
    • Records client information by making entries in the client journal and notifying supervisor of changing or unusual conditions.
    • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy client environment by following asepsis standards and procedures, maintaining security precautions, and following prescribed dietary requirements and nutrition standards.
    • Maintains and monitors professional relationships with consumers, families, Agency Staff, RCEB, Community Care Licensing, community members and employers.
    • Implements community based paid and volunteer opportunities for consumers.
    • Ensures consumer rights are not violated.
    • Supports and assists Program Coordinator/Director in achieving the goals of the service.
    • Completes required training (CPR, First Aid, Pro-ACT, etc.) as required.
    • Other duties as assigned.
