    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    JOB SUMMARY:


    The mammography technologist resident will complete training and meet all requirements for testing and certification through ARRT. The resident will sit for registry exam within 180 days of being hired.

    The resident will work with the lead mammography tech as a preceptor and will accomplish the following tasks:

    complete 25 supervised mammograms, complete 75 additional unsupervised mammograms (on patients, no phantoms), review 10 cases with radiologist, observe 4 procedures as defined by ARRT as acceptable procedures, participate in the performance, evaluation and recording of QC tests as indicated in the 2018 ACR Digital Mammography Quality Control Manual or according to equipment manufacturer's recommendations.

    The resident must also complete 27.5 didactic hours by taking online course.

    The resident will use knowledge of positioning patients, general anatomy and physiology, and record and present images to be reviewed by the Radiologist.

    They perform a variety of technical procedures in the scope of their position which may include screening and diagnostic mammograms, to include 2D and 3D (tomosynthesis), dexa scans, galactograms, needle localizations, mammogram-guided biopsies and stereotactic biopsy procedures.


    After successfully completing exam, the will transition to the requirements of the mammography tech job position and will be required to complete a 12 month work commitment.




    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


    Be a graduate of an approved ARRT educational program which requires, at minimum, an Associate degree in any study. Prefer experience in a healthcare facility and/or experience working with patient populations. EPIC experience is a plus. Must maintain compliance with the CE and exams requirements of the ARRT certifying organization.

    Licensed by State of Louisiana in Radiologic Technology, and;

    Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certification in Mammography (within 6 months of hire), and;


    Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.

    The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

    Constant (67%-100%) - handling/feeling, hearing, seeing
    Frequently (34%-66%) - talking
    Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching
