    Days Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse.

    The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.

    About the Assessment Intervention CenterThe Assessment Intervention Center provides assistance navigating mental health, addiction, homelessness and other socio-economic issues influencing an individual's overall health and well-being.

    The AIC is FREE and can be utilized by any Marion County resident, although it is strategically situated on the Community Justice Campus to facilitate easy referrals for those trapped in the cycles of the criminal justice system.


    Where You Fit In:

    As a Housing Specialist, your responsibilities, will include delivering engagement and skills training to residents residing at the Assessment Intervention Center.

    In this capacity, you will also collaborate with onsite medical specialist staff to facilitate the admission, onboarding, and orientation processes for new residents at the Assessment and Intervention Center.


    What to Expect:
    The primary objective of the Housing Specialist is to create a comfortable living environment for residents. This entails maintaining regular engagement with residents, implementing non-violent crisis intervention techniques, and organizing structured individual and group activities.
    Am I Qualified?

    • High School Diploma or equivalent, coupled with: One year of experience in Behavioral Health or Substance Use Disorder treatment; OR Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); OR Equivalent post-secondary education, such as a Bachelor's or Associate's degree.
    • Must possess a valid Indiana driver's license that aligns with Eskenazi Health's driving policy requirements

    Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center:
    more about Eskenazi Health Functions and Responsibilities Engages residents utilizing Motivational Interviewing within the framework of the Recovery Model, facilitating their acclimation to the Assessment and Intervention Center and guiding them through the subsequent stages of their recovery journey. Provides crisis management and emergency interventions, including but not limited to CPR and CPI techniques. Collaborates with on-site case management staff to offer targeted case management, particularly focusing on connecting residents with essential treatment resources. Offers transportation in company-provided vehicles as directed by the treatment team and guided by program necessity. Advocates for residents, ensuring access to necessary services by cultivating community relationships and resources. Instructs residents in skills that enhance their behavioral health and/or substance use, aiding in their successful reintegration into the community. Ensures transparent communication with the Assessment and Intervention Center housing team and leadership regarding resident success, barriers, and progress. Performs selected nursing technician procedures in accordance with Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center guidelines, including but not limited to assisting with self-administration of medications, conducting vital signs assessments, collecting specimens, monitoring nutritional status, and other assigned duties within the scope of practice. Establishes and maintains a safe environment through ongoing assessment of the milieu/appointment environment. Assumes personal responsibility for professional development, completing 20 hours of training per year as per Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center and Eskenazi Health policies. Provides written/electronic documentation at the end of each shift for every resident interaction involving interventions or completed observations.
