    Come grow with us South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit Joint Commission Accredited Behavioral Healthcare provider located in Southeast Palm Beach County, Florida. Situated in the city of Delray Beach, the Center provides a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care to clients and their families in surrounding communities.

    This job is onsite at our Delray Beach location.

    Purpose:

    PROVIDES PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES TO ADULT/GERIATRIC CLIENTS OF CENTER PROGRAMS. REPORTS TO CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER.

    Responsibilities:

    • PRESCRIBE MEDICATION BASED ON CLIENT' DIAGNOSES.
    • EVALUATE EFFECTIVENESS OF MEDICATION.
    • EVALUATE FOR SIDE EFFECTS OR LACK THEREOF.
    • TEACH CLIENTS, SIGNIFICANT OTHERS, STAFF, ETC. ABOUT MEDICATIONS AND INTERACTIONS.
    • CONSULTATION TO STAFF ABOUT MEDICATIONS, TREATMENT ISSUES, DISCHARGE PLANNING.
    • PERFORM MENTAL STATUS EXAMINATION.
    • DETERMINE FIVE (5) AXIS DIAGNOSIS BASED ON DSM IV CRITERIA - INCLUDING GAF SCORE.
    • DISCUSSION OF PSYCHODYNAMICS OF EVALUATION (E.G. FAMILY, ENVIRONMENT, ETC.).
    • RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TREATMENT PLANS.
    • CONSULTATIONS CONCERNING CLIENTS' HEALTH STATUS.
    • REVIEW AND ATTEST TO TREATMENT PLANS, MED DIVIDER, AND INSURANCE FORMS, AS NECESSARY.
    • PROVIDE CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING CLIENT ISSUES AS APPROPRIATE TO INTERNAL/EXTERNAL SOURCES.
    • ADMINISTER SECLUSION AND RESTRAINT PROCEDURES ACCORDING TO CENTER'S POLICY AND PROCEDURES.
    • ATTEND MEDICAL STAFF MEETINGS
    • BE INVOLVED IN QI TEAMS AND COMMITTEES AS APPROPRIATE TO FURTHER PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES.
    • ON-CALL STATUS AS DETERMINED BY MEDICAL DIRECTOR.
    • PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

    Adult & Geriatric Knowledge:

    • KNOWLEDGE OF MEDICATIONS/DOSAGES.
    • ASSESS CHANGE IN PRODUCTIVE STATUS (E.G. - ECONOMIC PHYSICAL) AS A RESULT OF ILLNESS.
    • ADDRESS FEARS OF AGING PROGRESS.
    • ASSESS AND ADDRESS LIFE STAGE CONCERNS OF CLIENTS
    • MEDICATION DOSAGES.
    • ASSESS NUTRITIONAL NEEDS.
    • ASSESS DEPENDENCY NEEDS.
    • ASSSESS INTAKE/ELIMINATION PATTERNS.
    • ASSESS AUDIO/VISUAL PROBLEMS.

    Qualifications:

    • MD OR DO REQUIRED, CURRENT VALID FLORIDA DRIVER'S LICENSE, BOARD ELIGIBLE IN PSYCHIATRY
    • MUST KNOW BAKER ACT / MARCHMAN ACT, ABUSE REGULATIONS, ETHICS OF MEDICAL PROFESSION
    • COUNSELING / PSYCHIATRIC INTERVENTIONS.
    • CLIENT CARE PROTOCOL FOR ADULTS/GERIATRICS.
