    The State Supported Living Centers cater to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, some of whom have medical fragilities or behavioral challenges. These centers offer direct services and support on campuses located across the state of Texas, totaling 13 centers.

As a Training Specialist II, your primary responsibility is to ensure that employees are well-equipped with the necessary competencies for their roles through various training programs.

    • Plan, design, organize, and conduct educational training programs
    • Deliver New Employee Orientation and Refresher Training
    • Collaborate with different departments and programs within the facility
    • Customize training approaches for interactive and engaging sessions
    • Maintain accurate training records
    • Assist in curriculum material development

    The Training Specialist II reports to the Facility Competency and Training Department Director, working closely with other trainers in various training sessions. Flexibility is key as job duties, location, and shifts may change as per the facility's needs. The role also involves active participation in disaster responses and Continuity of Operations activation.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Attend work regularly and adhere to assigned shift schedules
    • Conduct training classes in group settings or computer labs
    • Assess employee competencies and skills
    • Act as a substitute trainer when needed
    • Enhance training quality and effectiveness
    • Maintain training records accurately
    • Assist in curriculum material development
    • Ensure safety and infection control practices
    • Facilitate post-orientation assessments
