    Role description:

    Arcadis is seeking a Civil Engineer/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of projects in our Syracuse, NY office. We are looking for an entry level engineer to support environmental permitting projects for several Arcadis clients in the Northeastern and Midwestern portions of the United States, including various energy development projects, including electrical transmission, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy projects. The position will require familiarity with federal and state environmental permitting.

    Role accountabilities:

    The position will include, but is not limited to, activities such as:
    • Civil/Environmental engineering design including land development planning, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, and earthwork site design
    • Developing permit/construction-level drawings and details
    • Preparing technical specifications
    • Report writing for civil and environmental permitting
    • Field opportunities, such as, contractor oversight, site walks, and site inspections
    • Construction cost evaluation/estimating
    • Office-based support of active construction projects (e.g., submittal reviews, field change documentation, site layout information)
    Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. The candidate will have a strong desire to pursue a career in the civil and/or environmental engineering sector.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Required Qualifications:
    • Enrolled in or have earned a BS of Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline (a diploma is required upon graduation)
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or other terrain modeling design software
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • 1 to 3 years of previous work experience (internship or full-time experience in civil or environmental consulting or related field)
    • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
    • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR-55, PondPack, HEC-RAS)
    • Understanding of land development, erosion & sediment control, and stormwater permitting

    Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $78,000.
