    BPC is seeking a media relations professional with a background in energy, infrastructure, or related policy to join our communications team.

    In this role, your primary function is to generate positive media coverage for BPC's energy and infrastructure projects, directors and/or executive directors, and other senior staff associated with our Energy and Infrastructure projects.


    This specific portfolio includes a wide array of clean energy and climate issues including carbon management, carbon dioxide removal, electrification, direct air capture, permitting reform, resiliency, traditional and clean energy infrastructure, and more.

    A successful applicant will work hand in hand with BPC's Energy and Infrastructure project staff to produce reports and policy recommendations, hold events, and use traditional and digital media to advance our policy objectives.


    You will be part of a six-person media team and work closely with the broader communications team, including marketing, digital, and events.

    While the position will reside on the Communications team, the position will be considered a full-time member of the Energy team.

    Responsibilities


    Lead communication efforts of BPC's energy and infrastructure projects, and other policy areas as needed, and promote the organization's overall mission to craft policy solutions that improve lives.

    Work collaboratively with project directors and teams to develop proactive communications strategies
    Draft press releases, advisories, op-eds, and other written materials
    Draft statements, quotes, and posts/comments for earned media opportunities
    Draft copy and create content for staff and BPC's social media platforms
    Create interview briefing materials, including talking points and backgrounders
    Review, edit, and approve op-eds, blog posts, newsletters, and other written materials
    Secure placement of op-eds and letters to the editor
    Work collaboratively with digital and events teams to ensure coordination of communications efforts

    Proactively pitch reporters, producers, and editors on the team's research, legislative priorities, mission, and expertise
    Identify opportunities for cross-policy collaboration on communications tactics and ways to elevate BPC's brand and work in creative, strategic ways
    Analyze media metrics and provide periodic reports to team and internal leaders, including for quarterly board reports
    Supports communications leadership as necessary on special projects
    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or higher
    At least five years of relevant experience
    Solid writing skills, familiarity with AP Style
    Demonstrated track record of sound judgment and responsibility
    Exercises independent decision-making skills
    Communicates effectively with media relations, policy team members, and communications leadership
    Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once in a fast-paced environment

    Work Schedule

    The work/life balance of employees is a priority for the Bipartisan Policy Center. As a result, BPC is currently operating on a hybrid schedule. Employees at BPC are currently coming into the office three times a week. Exact times and schedules will be determined between an employee and their manager.

    The salary and title will be based on experience and skill set.
