Position: Kafka Administrator

Location: Alpharetta, GA (OR) New York City, NY (Hybrid: 3 days a week)

Experience: 10+ Years

Work type: C2C

PETADATA is currently looking to hire for the position of Kafka Administrator for one of their clients.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Handle all Kafka environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning, and ongoing monitoring.
Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Kafka Cluster.
Creation of key performance metrics, measuring the utilization, performance, and overall health of the cluster.
Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded hardware and software releases as well as storage infrastructure.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of Kafka with other systems.
Ability to closely collaborate with product managers and lead engineers.
Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures.
Create topics, set up redundancy clusters, and deploy monitoring tools, and alerts.
Develop and maintain shell scripts for the automation of Kafka tasks.
Proactively monitor and set up an alerting mechanism for Kafka Cluster and supporting hardware to ensure system health and maximum availability.
Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Kafka cluster.
Implement security measures to protect Kafka clusters from potential threats.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to production support.

Required Skills:

10+ years of solid Kafka Admin experience in managing critical 24/7 applications.
Design, build, assemble, and configure application or technical architecture components using business requirements.
Strong knowledge of Kafka architecture and its components.
Experience in setting up monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
Hands-on experience in Shell Scripting (e.g. Bash).
Knowledge of Kafka security protocols and best practices.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
