    Description

    The Paper Engineer will be an integral member in driving the new product innovation as well as assisting in mechanical/tooling designs and modifications and new equipment related to paper forming. The Paper Engineer will also provide technical assistance for solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes, and tooling. This position works closely with our production, engineering, maintenance, and marketing departments.

    This position has the opportunity to work hybrid but the candidate must be located near Fremont, OH. Paperboard experience is a must and working with Gralex machines a huge plus.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • production crews to help solve problems through process and design.
    • paper/materials technology for opportunities to develop new products.
    • research needed for processing and forming paper (i.e. raw materials, chemistry, and extensibility of paper related to forming).
    • testing plans and data tables for analyzing with engineering staff.
    • paper machinery, paper tooling, and technical process standards for the paper product line.
    • in the design and participate in design reviews of various sections within the equipment and tooling to meet required specifications.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • and interpret work orders and specifications
    • Marketing and Manufacturing departments on product design and production
    • input on job estimates and market sizing for new products as required
    • with concept and layout drawings as well as drawing changes to ensure design meets accepted engineering standards and project requirements
    • in design reviews for evaluation of work order requirements
    • in representing the design team in customer and final design reviews
    • design considerations, concepts and calculations are documented and filed
    • various design activities on assigned projects.

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • degree or higher in paper science, material science, chemical engineering or equivalent experience. Prefer 2-4 years experience in technology and new product development in paper forming.
    • knowledge of raw materials, chemistry, and environmental technology.
    • of 3D CAD software and analysis tools
    • to apply engineering and scientific principles to develop new product and resolve problems
