    Su pports activities related to the design, modification and operation of process equipment in the ethanol plant. Reviews the process equipment/data to improve plant operations. Coordinates with fleet engineering resources to ensure the Mechanical Integrity Program complies with company and OSHA PSM standards.

    Supports projects from conception through completion including the development, design and execution of capital, expense and maintenance projects in a safe and efficient manner.

    Supports plant operations by reviewing, studying, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting the plant systems and equipment and provides recommendations.
    Analyzes and interprets data for opportunities to improve production, efficiencies, yields and operating costs. Generate reports summarizing findings.
    Improves the process by coordinating changes in operations, controls, equipment, procedures, parameters, operational theory and other related items.
    Prepares justification, cost estimates and other project documents as required for approval.
    Develops technical specifications to procure equipment and services.
    Provides assistance with installation, startup and performance testing of multiple projects concurrently.
    Performs design work and other assigned tasks to ensure they are completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
    Coordinates with fleet engineering resources to ensure the Mechanical Integrity Program complies with OSHA PSM and provides expertise on QA/QC (i.e. ASME, API standards) requirements for new equipment and repairs to existing equipment.
    Supports maintenance and operations as a technical resource.
    Supports Turnaround planning and execution.

    Completes other requirements for compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management Regulations including but not limited to the maintenance of documentations such as MOCs, P&IDs, isometrics, and equipment specifications.

    This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
    Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
    Experience in ethanol production, chemical processing, food processing, oil refining, or power plant preferred.
    Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Valero's Aurora ethanol plant is located near Aurora, South Dakota, six miles east of Brookings and 60 miles north of Sioux Falls.

    The bio-refinery sits on 420 acres and started ethanol production in November 2003.

    The facility uses a dry-grind production method and state-of-the-art technology to maintain industry-leading standards in production, safety, product quality and environmental stewardship.

    Recognized as the ethanol industry's first 100 million-gallon-per-year production facility, the Aurora plant now annually processes approximately 49 million bushels of corn into approximately 140 million gallons of denatured ethanol and 368,000 tons of distiller grains co-products.

    The bio-refinery employs approximately 65 employees.
