    Position Purpose

    This role will provide the expertise and support to implement PROtect's Safety Management System and strengthen the safety competencies across the NDT division of the organization.

    Must provide day to day guidance to management, staff, and supervisors in continued building of a strong safety culture.

    The Safety Manager will support and challenge the management team and all employees in reducing their risk exposure and defining actions to mitigate risk and achieve zero incidents and occupational illnesses throughout the organization.

    In addition, the Safety Manager will ensure full compliance with all third-party verification site requirements.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Essential Functions and Basic Duties

    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
    • Manage site work regarding third party safety verification programs to ensure full compliance.
    • Ensuring implementation of internal safety training. Work closely with company and division leaders to ensure employees have completed safety training as assigned.
    • Provide safety expertise and support to management and supervisors for company safety.
    • Conduct multiple site safety visits and assessments weekly (regional travel required). Participate, schedule, and/or lead safety audits at field locations. Work with division leaders to develop annual audit schedules.
    • Coordinate Quality, Rad, and Safety assessments and cross support those assessment needs in the field.
    • Support and challenge the management team in defining and prioritizing the actions to implement long term safety strategy.
    • Use and provide specialized safety knowledge and experience to help leadership drive behavioral changes in the business to reduce incidents and become a world class leader in safety.
    • Attend NDT, MI, and other divisional operational meetings and provide safety metrics, KPIs, feedback, toolbox talks, feedback on incidents, and general safety support in those meetings.
    • Translate strategic vision into comprehensive and pragmatic improvement plans to meet or exceed safety ambitions at all levels of the organization.
    • Define, develop, and distribute the relevant KPIs to track safety performance of the NDT divisions and locations.
    • Oversee NDT division driving safety metrics, monitoring driving infractions, safety violations, speeding, and other reckless driving concerns.
    • Utilize ERM Incident Management, Root Cause Determination, and Corrective Action program to drive understanding and prevention of recurrence.
    • Oversee, coach, and assist supervisors and managers on incident investigations.
    • Works with company leaders to provide support on best working conditions and safe working environment and ensure those conditions are conveyed in all internal SOPs.
    • Works with the industrial hygiene team and site leadership to ensure regulatory and group compliance regarding exposure and monitoring of vibrations, noise, dust, and other chemical agents.
    • Oversee compliance of the silver recovery program, coordinate with SVP R&C to ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Perform shop safety inspections, support crews with inspections of fire extinguishers, exit signs, egress/exit routes, housekeeping, truck safety compliance, harness and other PPE assessments and general location safety.
    • Develop and ensure OSHA compliance. Perform annual training on OSHA response and support leadership in their communications with OSHA. (Drills)
    • Advise, assist, and support local operations regarding compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.
    • Manage DOT Driver program as applicable
    • Support corporate Safety staff on medical case management process.
    • Manage proper disposal reporting of hazardous waste.
    • Identify and participate in EH&S budget and capital needs annually.
    Other Environmental, Health, and Safety support and duties as assigned.
    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification:
    Bachelor's degree or 6-10 years equivalent experience required

    Required Knowledge & Experience:
    6-10 years professional level EH&S experience required
    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
    Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and state specific regulations
    Knowledge of general chemical/petrochemical processing and industrial manufacturing processes is preferred
    CSP or CIH preferred.
    Spanish language fluency is a plus, but not required

    Skills/Abilities:
    Strong writing, strategic and interpersonal verbal communications skills
    Ability to work in a creative, fast paced, team environment
    Ability to efficiently research safety regulations and policies
    Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
    Strong customer service abilities
    Ability to understand the big picture while remaining detail oriented
    Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position
    Routine site visits required, up to 50-75% travel required or as needed. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Able to view computer screen for lengths at a time. Must be able to speak and listen clearly. Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy.

    May be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions.

    Physical Strength:
    This job may require lifting of up to 50 pounds seldom.
