    Location: Houston, TX

    Overview


    Our client is a Houston-based, private equity–backed oil and gas company seeking a Director of Finance & Corporate Development to play a critical role in financial strategy, corporate development, and value creation initiatives. This individual will work closely with the executive leadership team and private equity sponsor, supporting acquisitions, divestitures, strategic planning, and ongoing financial management of the business.

    The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in investment banking and FP&A, with deep experience in financial modeling, transaction execution, and operational finance within the energy sector.

    Key Responsibilities


    Corporate Development & M&A

    • Lead financial analysis and execution for acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions
    • Build and review complex financial models, including valuation, accretion/dilution, and returns analysis
    • Coordinate due diligence efforts with internal teams and external advisors (banks, legal, technical, accounting)
    • Support negotiations and transaction documentation alongside senior leadership
    • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning processes
    • Develop and maintain operating and corporate-level financial models
    • Analyze business performance, capital allocation, and return on investment
    • Prepare materials for the Board of Directors and private equity sponsor

    Strategic Finance & Leadership

    • Partner with executive management on strategic initiatives and operational decision-making
    • Monitor liquidity, leverage, and covenant compliance
    • Support capital markets activity, including debt financings and recapitalizations
    • Help drive financial discipline, process improvements, and best practices across the organization

    Qualifications

    • 5–10 years of experience combining:
    • Investment banking (energy-focused strongly preferred)
    • FP&A or strategic finance experience, ideally within oil & gas or energy
    • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
    • Experience working with or reporting to private equity sponsors
    • Solid understanding of upstream oil & gas economics and metrics (preferred)
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA a plus)
    • Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, lean, and entrepreneurial environment
