Job Overview
The College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE), Blood Bank Technician, in the Components Laboratory.
These positions will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.
The Blood Bank Technician will prepare blood component products for transfusion, using specialized equipment and procedures.
Will perform complex laboratory procedures that include preparation of red blood cells platelet concentrates, plasma, and cryoprecipitate; leukocyte reduction; irradiation; freezing and deglycerolizing; preparation of specialized hospital blood products, and processing and shipping samples to testing laboratory.
The candidate must successfully complete an extensive FBI background check as a condition for employment.The incumbent will be trained on first shift, then assigned to work various evening shifts 3:30pm-12:00 am M-F, with rotating weekends Saturday 12:00 pm- 8:30 pm, once training is completed.
