Respiratory Therapist Position at Norwalk Hospital

The Norwalk Hospital, part of Nuvance Health's 7-hospital network, is seeking a part-time respiratory therapist for immediate hiring.

If you have an Associates degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program, are a certified respiratory therapist or a registered respiratory therapist with under one year of RRT clinical experience, and a State of CT DOPH RCP license, we encourage you to send your resume to Christine Petti.

This part-time role is for 24 hours weekly, with shifts from 7PM to 7:30 AM on rotating weekends.

Nuvance Health encompasses a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations, such as Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, as well as Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York. Additionally, Nuvance Health has multiple primary and specialty care physician practices, including The Heart Center and urgent care offices.

Summary:

Responsible for clinical evaluation of patients and delivery of respiratory care as required.

Responsibilities:

Provides respiratory support for patients on ventilators (adult, pediatric, and neonatal) by monitoring, evaluating, and making clinical judgments.

Responsible for the implementation of Respiratory Care procedures. Evaluates and makes recommendations on the therapies rendered.

Performs basic assessments such as auscultation of breath sounds, pulses, respiratory pattern, and rate, among others, to assess the appropriateness of therapy. Recommends therapy and changes as required.

Documentation of therapy to be carried out accurately and timely. Information is to be charted in the appropriate records in complete detail, including the treatment card and Cerner electronic health record.

Performs pulmonary function testing and evaluations when necessary.

Provides safe administration of medical gases and assists in maintaining equipment inventory and ventilator readiness.

Annual competencies include training on various ventilators.

Provides instruction for respiratory and nursing students, medical staff, patients, and families.

Performs other job-related tasks as assigned and fulfills all compliance responsibilities.

Required:

Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program. Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist with less than one year of RRT clinical experience.

State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health License for a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Maintain Certification or Registry credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Essential:

Basic Life Support Credential. Maintain Certification or Registry credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Norwalk, Connecticut.

Work Type:

Part-Time, 24.00 hours per week.

Work Schedule:

Night Shift 12, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM rotating weekends.

Significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity.
