    **This is a Work Experience position available through EmployNV Youth Hub. All candidates will be considered after program eligibility is determined.

    Position Title: Kennel Welfare Assistant

    Location: Las Vegas, NV

    Hours: Part-time, shifts vary.

    Pay: $12/per hour

    Location Area: Eastern and Bonanza

    Age: Over 18+

    Program: WEX and OJT

    INTRODUCTION

    The Kennel Welfare Assistant provides care and the basic needs of animals that are being housed at The Las Vegas Animal Foundation including cleaning cages, laundry, and watering dogs. The kennel assistant operates under the supervision of the Animal Welfare Leadership team.

    POSITION SUMMARY
    • Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent.
    • Provide care for animals housed at The Animal Foundation.
    • Report signs of illness, disease, injury, or unusual activity to animal health technicians/veterinarians.
    • Ensure that cages and animals are properly numbered and identified and that personal property (toys, treats, blankets, leashes) are stored in the proper area and identified.
    • Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, cages, runs, and stalls as often as necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent.
    • Perform general cleaning in other areas of the Animal Foundation to control the spread of disease.
    • Wash and sterilize water and food bowls.
    • Launder and dry towels and blankets.
    • Patrol campus grounds daily, picking up any trash and stool material.
    • Empty trash.
    • Record information such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior of animals that are housed
    • Maintain animal areas thru proper stocking and cleaning.
    • Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the Animal Foundation,
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
