    Compensation: $60,000 /yr

    Worksite Location: NCAT Campus

    Overview / Job Summary:

    The Accountant, Sponsored Projects provides guidance and technical expertise to the WSU Tech Foundation and WSU Tech's sponsored projects community in areas such as: Reporting, Invoicing, Transactional Approval and Regulatory Compliance. The Accountant, Sponsored Projects is assigned a portfolio of lower complexity grants and contracts that will allow the position to work independently, assist with compliance and offer basic advice and training to faculty and administrators on both internal and external agency procedures and policies related to sponsored program administration.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Sound working knowledge of regulatory compliance for federal and non-federal sponsored program and non-profit entities.
  • Collaborates in interpreting external agency guidelines to provide counsel to internal stakeholders on the allowability and allocability of direct cost to grants, contracts, sub agreements and donor contributions.
  • Assists with the collaboration on budget creation (pre-award) and fiscal compliance reporting (post-award and donor contributions).
  • Prepares and maintains reconciliations of accounting records to assist with daily reviews and approvals.
  • Collaborates in continuous improvement of department processes, procedures, and output.
  • Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, required.
  • Required/Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • 1-year, full time, work experience in Accounting, required
  • CPA or working toward CPA, with a strong working knowledge of standard accounting procedures, preferred
  • Experience with Sponsored Projects Administration and accounting & reporting systems in an education and or non-profit environment, preferred
  • Experience with Uniform Guidelines and regulatory requirements for grant accounting, preferred
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills, required
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines with high volume tasks, required
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and tact with interacting with internal and external customers, required
