- Operate sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
- Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
- Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
- Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of microbiological control and documentation. All other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization systems used in accordance with established Infection Control protocols and AAMI standards.
- Inspect instruments, equipment & containers to assure cleanliness and proper function.

Incumbents hired prior to 1/1/2017 are not required to obtain certification per T.C.A. § Accepted certifications are certified registered central service technician credentialed by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management OR certified sterile processing and distribution technician credentialed by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc required.
