We are seeking a skilled and passionate Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team in Surprise, AZ for the 2024/2025 school year. This part-time position involves working with students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, providing orientation and mobility instruction to support their independence and safety. The role will be under a W2 contract, with a schedule of 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students' orientation and mobility needs.
• Develop and implement individualized orientation and mobility plans for students with visual impairments.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in developing orientation skills, including spatial awareness, route planning, and navigation techniques.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to integrate orientation and mobility goals into students' educational plans.
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction and strategies as needed.
• Provide training and support to school staff and parents on orientation and mobility techniques and strategies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility or related field.
• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS).
• Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

Work Schedule:

• Part-time position: 3 days a week.

Grade Levels:

• Kindergarten to 12th grade.
