    The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, seeks and Associate Research Scientist with skills and experience in electrophysiology and/or biophysics. Experience with any of the following: brain slice, patch clamp electrophysiology, calcium or pH imaging techniques would be useful for this position. The position is funded by NIH grant support to Dr. Neil Harrison and Dr. Guang Yang.

    Opportunity exists to work on multiple collaborative projects with other research groups, including the effects of alcohol on the control of excitability in the prefrontal cortex by interneurons (Li et al., , as well as the biophysics and role of the SARS-CoV-2 envelope protein in virulence and pathogenesis (Cabrera Garcia et al., 2021

    Qualified applicants must be a recipient of a doctorate (PhD, MD, or both) and four or more years of research experience in their field. The university offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. This position falls under a collective bargaining agreement.
